Letter to the President from employees retiring from the Lanka Electricity Board

They have requested the President to intervene to protect the livelihood of the 2,200 employees who have applied for voluntary retirement under the restructuring of the Lanka Electricity Board. The employees have made this request by sending a letter to the President.

In the relevant letter, the employees have stated that they have decided to retire voluntarily within a specific time frame given and have planned their future livelihoods in parallel and that they have also become very confused as the restructuring process is getting delayed day by day.

They stated in their letter that they have been unable to withdraw from the board and implement their new plans until the date of the abolition of the Ceylon Electricity Board is announced.
