President Ranil Wickremesinghe, as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization, and National Policy, has requested Cabinet approval to take necessary measures based on the recommendations of the expert committee to produce hemp-based products for export purposes only.
It has been reported that the Department of Ayurveda and the Sri Lanka Board of Investment will jointly implement this program.
Furthermore, it has been stated that the government has taken steps to provide the necessary facilities for cultivation on land under the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka. If such land is unavailable, a government-owned land will be allocated to the Board of Investment.
