The Criminal Investigation Department has arrested a lawyer in Chilaw who sent sexually harassing text messages to a Female High Court judge via Messenger, Police Media Spokesperson SSP Buddhika Manatunga said.
Speaking further, he said that in 2022, the lawyer in question had sent text messages via Messenger that threatened to sexually harass her. The High Court judge had complained about this and the police have investigated the facts regarding the incident and sought the advice of the Attorney General. The police have arrested the suspect after the Attorney General informed them that the act committed by the suspect would be charged with sexual assault. The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the court. .
