It is reported that the President of the Lanka Teachers’ Association, Priyantha Fernando, has been interdicted. This decision has been taken by the Secretary to the Chief Ministry of the North Central Province, K.M.H.S.K. Jayalath.
The reason for the interdict is the allegation of making a false statement to a television channel regarding an incident related to the tendering and sale of several vehicles in the North Central Province.
The Chief Secretary has suspended Priyantha Fernando The letter dated 2025.06.06 has informed of these allegations and the suspension. He was given a free period from 2025.02.01 to 2026.01.31 for trade union activities, and the letter has alleged that he had made a false statement to a television channel on May 30th, introducing himself as the convener of the “Api Puravisayo” organization.
Priyantha Fernando works as a teacher at St. Joseph’s College in the Anuradhapura Educational Zone.
