The Bribery Commission has arrested Sujith Priyantha Muthumala, the former Deputy General Manager of the Land Reclamation and Development Corporation, in connection with a financial irregularity of Rs. 276 lakh.
This was in connection with the selection of a company outside the procurement procedure for the opening ceremony of the first phase of the Weras Ganga project implemented under the corporation.
He has been accused of causing a loss to the government by spending Rs. 276 lakh from the project fund for the ceremony when no money had been allocated for it.
