It was reported that Kehelbaddara Padme, his mistress and Commando Salintha were arrested by Malaysian security forces on July 9 while they were fleeing from Malaysia to Thailand by boat.
This news was later confirmed by the local police.
Accordingly, steps were taken to send a team of CID officers to Malaysia and another team to Thailand to bring them back to the country.
However, according to the latest police sources, the three arrested including Kehelbaddara Padme have escaped from the custody of the Malaysian police.
Accordingly, the CID officers who went to bring them back are scheduled to return to the country tomorrow.
