The Galle Karapitiya Teaching Hospital is currently experiencing a shortage of approximately 100 doctors. Hospital sources have reported that patient care services are at risk of collapse due to this situation.
As a result of this doctor shortage, the newly constructed operating room and intensive care unit in the hospital cannot be utilized.
According to hospital sources, Karapitiya Teaching Hospital requires 556 doctors, but currently only has 460 doctors available.
