Pilgrims coming to the Sri Dalada Maligawa pilgrimage have been banned from entering Kandy City until further notice.
Accordingly, Kandy District Secretary Indika Udawatte has informed the public to refrain from entering Kandy City until further notice. He said that this decision was taken because nearly four hundred thousand people have already gathered in Kandy City.
He said that although food and drinks can be provided, they are facing serious problems in providing the necessary toilet and sanitation facilities to the people, and if this situation continues, a disaster will occur.
