A group of thugs stormed the Frontline Socialist Party headquarters in Yakkala, Gampaha this morning (2) and attempted to take over the office by force, the party said.
More than 100 people carrying swords and clubs stormed the office, and the Frontline party members allege that the group included government members of parliament and district and regional organizers of the ruling party.
They further said that the group included a deputy minister of the ruling party, members of parliament, local government members, an organizer, and others.
Frontline Socialist Party Central Committee Member Sujith Kuruwita told the media that if a place needs to be removed, it should be legally accompanied by a fiscal order, and that there are a large number of belongings belonging to their party as well as books belonging to the library at the relevant place. He further stated that it is disgusting that the government has started a project to clean government offices and now disguises it as a tactic to attack the offices of political parties that hold opposing views.
