Japan will consider new projects in Sri Lanka only after first examining the country’s economic situation, the Japanese Embassy said.
The embassy made this statement in response to a question on whether Japan has promised new projects after the formation of the new government.
After all the official loan committee members completed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on July 22, 2024, Japan officially decided to resume 11 loan projects. The value of the projects is about US $ 87 million.
The Japanese Embassy says that most of the projects, including the Bandaranaike International Airport expansion project, are progressing smoothly.
