Iran plans to prosecute women who don’t wear hijab

Iran’s judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei has threatened to prosecute women who appear in public without a hijab “without mercy,” as women’s opposition to the hijab in the country is escalating, Reuters reported, citing Iranian media.

As more and more women continue to reject Iran’s mandatory dress code, he said the decision was taken to protect Islamic values, but iran women are protesting that statement. Foreign media reports that the reason for the head of court to make this kind of threatening statement is that it is difficult to control the hijab opposition in the country.

.Masha Amani, a 22-year-old girl who was arrested by Iranian police last October for wearing her hijab loosely, died in police custody. There was a widespread protest against the hijab in Iranian society after that insident. It is special to see Iranian women taking to the streets to protest against the hijab, as unexpected.

Videos of women in that country cutting their hair and burning their hijabs on the streets are widely shared on social media. One such video is posted below.
