A police investigation has been launched into the arrest of actor Jackson Anthony’s nephew Kasun Mahendra Heenatigala, Police Media Spokesperson K.B. Manatunga said.
Actor Madhavi Anthony’s husband Kasun Mahendra Heenatigala was arrested by Athurugiriya Police officers on the 20th while he was returning from a grocery shop near his house in Habarakada.
He claims that the officers arrested him because he did not have a national identity card.
Kasun Mahendra Heenatigala has posted on his social media accounts that two officers brutally held his hands when they took him to Athurugiriya Police.
He said that after he called his wife, who was taking care of his infant child, and brought her to the police station, he and his wife were severely scolded by the OIC of the Athurugiriya Police. He stated that he was released after two hours.
He also stated that his child suffered from lack of breast milk for almost two hours due to his wife’s visit to the police station.
The investigation has been initiated on the orders of Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya
