The hotel informed the State Intelligence Service via email within minutes of Abdul Latif Mohamed Jameel, the Easter Sunday bomber who entered the Taj Samudra Hotel on April 20, 2019, Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said.
The minister said this had happened the day before the bombing, but the State Intelligence Service had failed to act on the information, even though Jameel was on the security watch list.
Jameel, one of the suicide bombers who killed more than 250 people in the Easter Sunday attacks, had reportedly initially planned to bomb the Taj Samudra Hotel and had moved to another location after his attempt failed. He died in an explosion at the Tropical Inn Hotel in Dehiwala.
The minister said this in Parliament today, explaining the progress of the investigations into the Easter attacks.
