As the water level of the Kelani River is currently rising, Colombo District Secretary Prasanna Ginige has appealed to those still living in low-lying areas to evacuate immediately.
The Colombo District Secretary further said that the necessary facilities will be provided to the people who are evacuating in this manner at Malabe Adarsha Pirima Vidyalaya and Pittugala Yashodhara Maha Vidyalaya.
Accordingly, the people in low-lying areas along the Kaduwela – Malabe, Athurugiriya – Malabe and Malabe to Battaramulla roads should respond promptly, the disaster management authorities say.
