The Colombo High Court today granted bail to Hirunika Premachandra, who was sentenced to three years imprisonment with hard labour. It also imposes a condition that it is prohibited to go abroad.
On June 28, she was found guilty of eighteen charges including abducting and torturing a young man and conspiring to do so, and was sentenced to three years in prison on June 28.
She filed an appeal against that decision and considering it, Colombo High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja granted her bail as follows.
