Hindu religious leaders with 900 million followers visit Maha Na Theros.

During his visit to Sri Lanka, Reverend Swami Sri Govinda Dev Giri Ji Maharaj, the religious head of the Ayodhya temple in Uttara region, the chief priest of Indian Hinduism, worshiped the tooth relic at Sri Dalada Maliga in Kandy yesterday.

Pradip Nilanga Dela of ”Diyawadana Nilam” at Sri Dalada Palace welcomed the chief priest with a pot of ”piccha flowers”. After offering the tooth relic Swami Sri Govinda came to the Asgiri Maha Vihara, where he visited the Mahanayake thero of the Asgiri sect, Most Venerable Warakagoda Gnanarathana Thero and engaged in a discussion.

Then he came to the Malwatu Maha Vihara and the chief priest visited the Maha Nayaka Most Venerable Thibbattuwave Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thero and had a friendly meeting with him.

Recalling that the cultural bond between India and Sri Lanka goes back centuries, the chief priest said that since Buddhism is the only religion for securing world peace, he will also contribute to its spread throughout the world.

He said that he has more than 900 million followers all over the world, and further stated that the Hindu religious shrine of Ayodhya temple provides free food and drinks to more than 04 lakh people every day.
