Here are the things that former presidents will lose under the new bill.

Justice Minister Attorney-at-Law Harshana Nanayakkara said that several privileges including their official residences will be abolished through the Bill of Rights (Removal) of Former Presidents.

Participating in the debate held in Parliament today (10), the Minister stated that the official residence, secretary allowance, widow’s pension, etc. will be abolished through this bill. However, the Minister said that nothing will happen to the pension due to the President through this.

Pointing out that this bill has been misused when it has fallen into the hands of rulers who think they can live by stealing the people’s tax money, the Minister said that it will be abolished accordingly and that the government will act according to the promise made during the election.
