Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has requested the government to send a medical team, including the army, to Myanmar to provide relief to the people affected by the earthquake in that country.
Issuing a special statement, the former President said that Myanmar and Sri Lanka have close relations and that he proposes to the government to send a medical team, including medicines, to provide relief to the people living in that country.
Speaking further, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe said:
“When the earthquake struck Nepal in 2015, we sent a team of the army, and Sri Lanka provided the second largest amount of aid after India. Today, India, Thailand, Malaysia, China, and even Australia in remote areas have all sent aid to help Myanmar. We also want to take action.”
