The Colombo High Court has reportedly rejected a preliminary objection raised by the defendants that the indictment filed by the Attorney General against three defendants, including Nadun Chinthaka alias Harak Kata, cannot be maintained.
The charges against them are that they conspired to escape from the Criminal Investigation Department while in custody.
Accordingly, this decision has been given by Colombo High Court Judge Sujeewa Nissanka. Rejecting the preliminary objections, the judge has stated that the charges filed by the Attorney General against the defendants under the Prevention of Terrorism Act can be heard before the High Court.
The judge has also stated in his order that there was no procedural error in the presentation of the indictments, and the judge has also ordered that the case be heard on August 5th.
