The government has so far purchased 675 kilos of paddy. Paddy Marketing Board Chairman Manjula Pinkanda states that this paddy stock was purchased at the government’s guaranteed price.
He made this statement at a press conference held in Colombo.
He expressed confidence that the paddy harvest has not yet reached the market in large quantities and that farmers will bring paddy to government warehouses as the harvest arrives in large quantities in the future. Meanwhile, the first paddy stock at the government’s guaranteed price was sold by a farmer in the Ampara district to the Tissapura paddy warehouse.
He had sold a stock of 650 kilos of paddy there.
