The Government Medical Officers Association says that it will engage in continuous trade union action from 8.00 am today (26) due to the irresponsible behavior of the government in the face of its demands.
The media spokesperson of the association, Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, stated that the strike will be implemented through 05 trade union actions.
Accordingly,
- Not issuing prescriptions to purchase medicines that are not available in clinics and outpatient treatment units from outside pharmacies.
- Not issuing prescriptions or recommendations to obtain laboratory tests that are not available in the hospital system from outside laboratories and private hospitals.
- Not providing the opportunity to start new units within the hospital system if the currently approved number of doctors cannot be provided and if an approved number of doctors has not been approved.
- Not supporting certain clinics and health camps that are conducted for political reasons and needs in some cases.
- If an assistant officer is not provided to the doctor when examining the patient in a hospital, clinic and outpatient treatment unit, the doctors will resign from their duties at those places.
Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe said that this trade union action is to be carried out under 05 measures.
He also stated that the government should take full responsibility for the breakdowns that may occur in the health sector due to this situation.
