The government has decided to provide fertilizer for the 2026 Yala season only through Agrarian Service Centers under the Agrarian Development Department, says Commissioner General of Agrarian Development Dhammika Ranatunga.
He said that the government has taken this decision on the assumption that fertilizer prices will increase in the future in the current crisis situation and some people have tried to hoard fertilizer.
He said that the Department of Agriculture has all the information of farmers and the amount of land they cultivate, and accordingly, fertilizer can be obtained through the Agrarian Service Centers in accordance with the amount of land.
