Estate workers protest against opposition politicians who opposed wage hike

Estate workers in the towns of Bhagwanthalawa and Maskeliya on the afternoon of the 16th (16) protested against the action of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the current government to allocate Rs. 200 from the Treasury to increase the daily wage of estate workers.

The plantation workers who were protesting said that they had never obtained a salary increase through protests and strikes in history, and that for the first time in history, the President and the current government took steps to provide a one-time salary of Rs. 400 without strikes or protests.

The politicians in the plantation sector representing the opposition and some groups in the opposition do not understand the suffering of the people in the plantation sector, and that they will provide their full support to the rulers who understand their suffering in the future.

In the town of Bogawantalawa, estate workers protested with a coffin, erected a statue of Mr. Namal Rajapaksa, set it on fire in the city center, and burned photographs of opposition MPs who opposed the salary increase.
