Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody released on bail .

Following the indictment against Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody before the Colombo High Court, the court today (27) ordered his release on two surety bonds of Rs. 1 million each.

The Minister was released on bail this morning when he appeared before the Colombo High Court to appear in a case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The case was filed in connection with an alleged corruption case he allegedly committed while working at the Fertilizer Corporation in 2015. In that incident, he is accused of committing the offence of corruption under Section 70 (b) of the Bribery Act by illegally providing a profit and advantage to a private company.
