Employees of the Talawakelle Divisional Secretariat walked out of their services today, claiming that the physical resources are not sufficient to function. Therefore, it is reported that beneficiaries who had come to update their information to receive the relief benefits, engaged in a protest in front of the Divisional Secretariat and behaved uneasily.
The Talawakelle Divisional Secretariat is located on the upper floor of the Seva Piyasa building belonging to the Talawakelle Lidula Urban Council, and 142 employees, including officers, work in that building. It is reported that the employees walked out of their services, demanding that the ground floor of the Seva Piyasa building owned by the Urban Council be provided as well due to the lack of sufficient physical resources.
Accordingly, it is reported that the Pradeshiya Sabha has agreed to provide the ground floor of that building for the Divisional Secretariat.
