Dhanushka Parakramasinghe, President of Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers Association, said today while addressing a press conference that there is a possibility of reducing the electricity bill by 10 to 20 percent and if the Electricity Board is restructured, the electricity bill will increase soon.
He mentioned that the proposal for the implementation of the second electricity tariff revision of this year on July 1 will be submitted to the Electricity Board and the Public Utilities Commission this week and that the electricity tariffs should be reduced for the people.
He mentioned that the Electricity Board Restructuring Act to be discussed in the Parliament has got the necessary provisions to increase the electricity bill and the current administration of the Electricity Board is already working as required by the foreign companies.
