A conflict has arisen between a group of police officers and villagers who were engaged in a search operation in Attanayala area of Weerakatiya. It is reported that 08 police officers and two villagers who were injured in this clash were hospitalized.
The police officers were conducting a search operation in the area this afternoon (06) and the clash occurred when they were suspicious of a group of people on the road and were checking them.
06 people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
