Don’t worry, there is insulin for three months.

Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said at a press conference held today to announce cabinet decisions that insulin was imported into the country on April 12th, sufficient for three and a half months.

He also stated that insulin sufficient for another two months will be imported into the country within the next two weeks.

The Minister stated that the government is providing solutions to the problems raised by the previous government in the import of medicines.

Although the current government reviewed these problems after coming to power and ordered medicines, it takes 6 to 9 months to receive those medicines according to the tender procedure, and during that time, the medicines will be received according to the aid and agreements between the countries.

The Minister also stated that the figures published by some media reports regarding the shortage of medicines are not accurate.
