Do not disturb the cable car project. An interim ban to Gampola Divisional Secretary.

The Court of Appeal issued interim orders to the Gampola Divisional Secretary preventing any interference or interference in the work of the first cable car project to be built in the Ambuluawa area.

The Court of Appeal has issued this order after considering a petition filed by a private company stating that its project will be hindered.

Mr. Ali Sabri, the president’s lawyer who appeared for the petitioner company, presented the facts before the court and accused the Gampola divisional secretary of obstructing the construction work of the cable car project even though all the government agencies had given the necessary approval.

The President’s lawyer mentioned that various obstacles are being put up stating that there is not enough security and that several people have even been arrested in connection with this incident and that there had been extensive media publicity about this.

The President’s Counsel pointed out that the area where this construction is being carried out is completely under the authority of the Urban Development Authority and the Gampola Divisional Secretary has no authority to interfere in its affairs.

Gampola Divisional Secretary Dilrukshi Jayaratne, Sri Lanka Tourism Board and Board of Investment have been named as respondents in this petition.
