Disease for maize due to rain. Thousands of acres are already destroyed.

Buddhika Abeysinghe, Additional Director of Agriculture in the North Central Province, said that due to heavy rainfall, a disease related to maize cultivation is spreading.

He further said that this disease known as kokuangamaraya or trunk rotting disease has been identified in areas like Anuradhapura, Monaragala, Ampara and Hambantota.

As a result, it is reported that nearly a thousand acres have been destroyed so far.
