Lalith Pathinayake, who was serving as the acting Senior DIG in charge of the Police Administration Division, has been removed from that position subject to disciplinary action. This step has been taken by the National Police Commission.
However, it is reported that he will continue to serve as the Senior DIG in charge of the Central Province.
The National Police Commission has approved the appointment of Senior DIG Sanjeewa Dharmaratne, Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province, to the position of Senior DIG in charge of the Police Administration Division, which fell vacant due to this removal.
Since IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya is on a foreign tour, Senior DIG Sanjeewa Dharmaratne is currently also acting as the Acting IGP.
