Education Minister Susil Premajayantha says that diploma holders will not be recruited into the teaching profession in the future.
The minister said that in the future, all the colleges will be merged into one university, and after the year 2028, the teachers will be recruited with Bachelor of Education degrees.
According to the rapidly changing knowledge, every professional such as teachers and doctors should update their knowledge, the minister said.
Meanwhile, the minister also mentioned that the subject of aesthetics, which is the basis of primary education, will not be removed from the curriculum.
