Senior DIG Deshbandu Tennakoon is likely to be appointed as acting Inspector General of Police for a period of three months, according to police headquarters sources.
CD Mr. Wickramaratne retired on the twenty-fifth day after the post of Inspector General of Police.
It is also reported that Varuna Jayasundara, the commander of the Police Special Task Force, is likely to be appointed to the position of Senior Deputy Inspector General in charge of the Western Province, which is vacant after the appointment of Mr. Deshbandu Tennakoon as the Inspector General of Police.
