Deshbandhu is not a suspect in two cases related to the struggle – court rules

When the Galle face activists entered the Presidential Palace, over one crore seventy eight lakh rupees were found there. The Court of Appeal today issued a writ, invalidating the summons issued by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court to the Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province, Deshbandu Tennakoon, to appear as a suspect in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General has issued a letter to name Deshbandu Tennakoon as a suspect in connection with the attack on the “Gota Go gama” struggle in Gallface on May 9th of last year and the Court of Appeal has issued a writ of invalidity.

According to police sources, these two rulings have removed the obstacles for former DIG Deshbandhu Tennakon to become the next IGP to a considerable extent.
