Cyclone conditions are predicted to recur in December and January.

The Disaster Management Center says that the Meteorological Department has predicted that there is a risk of wave-like disturbances, depressions or cyclones in the low pressure areas in December and January with the activation of the northeast monsoon.

He further said that this information has been revealed through a report submitted using data on how the northeast monsoon has operated in the last 30 years.

It has been stated that more than normal rainfall can be expected in the Northern Province and that there may be near-normal rainfall in the North Central, East Central and Uva provinces.

According to the data, it has been predicted that there may be less than normal rainfall in the Western and Southern Provinces.

However, the Director General of the Department of Meteorology says that there is a risk of low pressure areas, wave-like disturbances, depressions or cyclones forming during the months of December and January, and if that happens, this weather situation may change.

The Chairman of the Disaster Management Center said this while addressing a media briefing yesterday.
