The court has rejected a request made by the Bribery Commission to cancel the bail of Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, who is currently out on bail, and remand him in custody in connection with a case filed by the Bribery Commission.
The relevant case was taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali today.
The magistrate stated that the request is being rejected as the facts presented by the Bribery Commission do not reveal sufficient facts to cancel the suspect’s bail.
