Coal tender is on fire. Challenges a public debate.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MP D.V. Chanaka said in Parliament that low-grade coal has been imported into the country through a corrupt tender and losses have been incurred. He challenges Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody to come out with him on any channel regarding this matter. MP D.V. Chanaka further said that he will prove that the transaction is completely corrupt.

MP D.V. Chanaka pointed out that the current government has been engaged in corruption and fraud since the first week of its rule and said that the Energy Minister is behind this corrupt coal tender.

The government has taken steps to postpone the coal tender, which should normally be called in April, until September. He said that the tests conducted at the Lakvijaya Power Plant have confirmed that the Calorific value of the first two coal ships brought to Sri Lanka is between 5600-5800, and according to the coal tender guidelines, this should be at least 5900.

He pointed out in Parliament that due to the import of coal at the standard standard, nearly six additional coal ships will have to be brought in per year, which will cost one billion rupees.
