MP Lakmali Hemachandra alleges that the closure of the Next garment factory is being unnecessarily politicized. Lakmali Hemachandra made this statement while joining the Derana Wadapitiya program.
“Closing factories is something that happens intermittently. Institutions are closed and opened. It should not be unnecessarily politicized. These institutions are closed according to the decisions of those institutions. Koggala closed one last year. A few days later, another group started again.
This is not a withdrawal of investments. This has nothing to do with trade unions. If it was decided to close it, it was a business decision of that institution and nothing else. This is not the first institution to be closed in Sri Lanka,” she said.
