Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe says that some people have a misconception regarding currency printing.
He also points out that even though it has been two and a half years since he took office as the Central Bank Governor, banknotes bearing his signature are not in circulation in large quantities.
He stated that as a normal process, the Central Bank prints and stores banknotes required for about a year.
However, he said that he cannot specifically state a date for the circulation of banknotes bearing the signature of President Anuru Dissanayake as the current Finance Minister . He expressed these views while addressing a media briefing held at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka today.
