The CEB has been restructured into 4 companies based on the provisions of the new Ceylon Electricity Act.
The Ministry of Energy states that the relevant companies have been established to operate the generation, distribution, transmission and national systems.
These companies are the National System Operator Private Limited, National Transmission Network Service Provider Private Limited, Electricity Distribution Lanka Private Limited and Electricity Generation Lanka Private Limited.
Existing employees of the CEB can apply to be assigned to a company of their choice from those companies.
A period of two months has been given for this from today (27). The Ministry of Energy also states that all employees will be informed about this.
Employees can join these state-owned companies at their own discretion. The Ministry of Energy said that it has planned to retire employees who do not want to join the new institutions under a compensation scheme.
Meanwhile, it has also been planned to recruit engineers who currently hold high positions in the Ceylon Electricity Board for the top management of the new institutions established.
