Deputy Minister of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs Gamagedara Dissanayake states that Buddhist Affairs Commissioner Premasiri Ratnayake has been removed from that post.
Government sources say that this decision was taken considering the allegations against him and the lack of proper performance of his duties. He was appointed as the Commissioner for Buddhist Affairs in January 2024. It is reported that Kasun Wellahewa has been appointed as the acting Commissioner for Buddhist Affairs.
