Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who arrived at the Commission to investigate Bribery or Corruption this morning to give a statement, has left after giving a statement.
He later addressed the media and said that he had given a statement to the Commission. He also stated that he had expressed his opposition to the Commission’s documents falling into the hands of outside parties.
He also stated that he had said so because President Anura Dissanayake had said at a public rally held in Batticaloa on the 11th that he had seen a letter he had sent to the Commission. The former President also said that he was doubtful whether the Commission would do him justice due to this situation. He said that he had requested that his lawyers be given an opportunity to meet the Commission.
Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe said that depositing government funds in a bank as a fixed deposit is a serious crime.
