Bone fragments of two young children found in Chemmini mass grave .

The team led by Professor Raj Somadeva of the University of Kelaniya, who is excavating the Chemmini mass grave in Jaffna, has so far found 4 skulls and 34 human bones. Among them are two skeletons of children, said lawyer Anandaraja, who joined the excavations on behalf of the missing.

He said that further studies on the skulls that have been found will be carried out, and that it will be possible to reveal the manner of death, age and other details of the individuals.

He said that the dolls and bracelets found with the bones are very important and that important facts can be revealed by examining them. The recovered bones have been stored in the Archaeological Unit of the University of Jaffna under the supervision of the Forensic Medical Officer of the Jaffna Hospital, Sellaiya Prirawan, as per the court orders.
