Bills are going to be issued to patients taking medicine from government hospitals

State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera has suggested that steps be taken to issue a bill stating the cost for patients receiving treatment from government hospitals.

Janaka Sri Chandragupta, Secretary of the Ministry of Health, has stated that it is a good proposal and he will express his agreement to it. The Minister of State has made this proposal in the Public Accountants Council held in the Parliament.

Director General of Health Services, Asela Gunawardena, who has expressed his views there, has said that the government should take a decision as a policy, and then it can be implemented. The Minister of State further stated that the purpose of his proposal is not to collect money from the patients, but to inform the public about the expenses incurred by the government for health.
