The Computer Emergency Response Forum has asked the public not to be fooled by fake and fraudulent messages shared on WhatsApp and other social media networks.
According to the agency, the relevant messages have been prepared with the aim of fraudulently obtaining the personal and financial information of social media users by pretending to be reliable institutions including banks, commercial organizations and international institutions.
The relevant messages are used to obtain the sensitive information of people by issuing fake announcements such as gifts and money, various valuable products etc.
Accordingly, the Computer Emergency Response Forum cautions the public to exercise caution when dealing with requests for an OTP number or other sensitive information, even if, in some cases, they are initially observed to be from trusted sources.
