The Assistant Superintendent, who had grown cannabis plants in the Glasgow Estate bungalow belonging to the Agarapathana Police Division, was arrested on suspicion on the afternoon of (01), said the OIC of the Agarapathana Police, Chief Inspector Shantha Bandara.
The Assistant Superintendent had prepared a bed in his official estate bungalow, uncovered it and planted cannabis plants, and the police conducted a raid on the spot based on information received that the cannabis plants had grown to a height of about two feet.
The suspect had grown 11 cannabis plants and all those plants were taken into police custody, and the suspect will be produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court on (02), the OIC said.
