Former Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and his wife have been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), it has been reported. The arrests have been made on charges of misusing Rs. 6.1 million allocated for flood relief in 2014.
The Police Media Spokesperson’s Office says that these funds were obtained through the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation under the guise of providing assistance to the victims of the Bingiriya and Narammala
It is alleged that the misappropriated funds were used for presidential election campaigning in 2015.
