A complaint has been filed with the Bribery and Corruption Commission regarding the purchase of smart boards that took place close to the presidential election.
The complainants point out that there was a lack of transparency regarding this purchase and that there are many problems with it.
The Ministry of Education and the then Ministry of Technology (now the Digital Ministry) have jointly submitted a cabinet paper for this transaction.
The total cost of the purchase exceeds Rs. 1.4 billion excluding taxes, of which Rs. 1.06 billion has already been paid. Another Rs. 700 million (including taxes) is to be paid as service charges. This purchase took place about two months before the presidential election and was completed in a short period of five days. The delivery of the goods took place two weeks before the presidential election.
