Railways General Manager Dhammika Jayasundara said that an investigation will be conducted into the failure of about 20 train drivers to report for work.
He said that several trains had to be cancelled due to the failure of these drivers to report for duty in the last two days.
He said that there should be about 430 drivers for the train operation, but currently there are only about 275 drivers.
Applications have been invited for the recruitment of train drivers and the recruitment competition is planned to be held next July, the General Manager further stated.
