Sources in the Finance Ministry said that the government is considering taking swift disciplinary action against a senior official of the Excise Department on charges of demanding bribes from liquor companies.
According to the sources, complaints have been received that this official is taking money from alcohol production establishments by saying that he can suspend or cancel the licenses of alcohol production by using his corporate power.
According to the report, this accused officer is trying to take multiple bribes. Those who benefit from the closure of one company’s operations or suspension of licenses are said to demand bribes from other suppliers as well. Also, the company, which is facing license suspension, is also being asked for money to cancel the license suspension, according to the report.
